HASHTRONAUT: EXPANDAMONDO!

Posted: 16.10.2008
HASHTRONAUT: now we are two.

Hashtronaut is pleased to formally introduce Lee Shepherd to the fold. Lee and Hashtronaut are buddies from way back in the mists of time (1992 actually).

Hashtronaut: "I wanted to incorporate more guitar into the music, and although I play myself, live it would be problematical. Recent circumstances have brought myself and Lee into each others orbit again after a gap of nine years or so. This after totally losing contact with each other, so if that's not a sign, well what is? Lee popped in for some recording sessions and it worked well enough for me to realise that he is probably the best man for the job, and so I asked if he wants to play on a regular basis.

Some pictures of Lee from a recent session at Bleak House are below:

...and the pair taking time out for a brew:

HASHTRONAUT HAS LEFT THE BUILDING. FOR GOOD.

Posted: 05.09.2008
All HASHTRONAUT work at the Vault Studio has ceased... and has begun in Bleak House.

Turbulent times behind the scenes for Hashtronaut, but it looks like the waters may just be subsiding.

For the last two years or so, all Hashtronaut activity has been conducted at the Vault, in the Vauxhall area of Liverpool. As of August 1st 2008, Hashtronaut ceased production of work there and severed all ties with the the Vault. Also in the last couple of years the Vault has also been home to sessions by Pylene50, who recorded their free debut download only release "Darksong Rising" there in late march 2008, and the intensive 3 day Cerberus session that took place in late April 2008.

MacMess will continue working with his band in the big room down there at the vault. They will no doubt continue to collaborate on musical projects in the future, both in public and behind the scenes.

This move put a slight dampener on what had been a fun and productive month for Hashtronaut. Once his live rig returned from Derbyshire and the SWF, it was put straight into storage rather than put back together in the studio and dismantled a week later. The last week of July was spent clearing the vault and the removal of all Hashtronaut items. These are now nestled safely in storage awaiting transport to the new premises that have been acquired.

The new space is on the top floor of a large pre-war house. It is light and airy, and has a really nice feel to it. I felt immediately at home there. I am looking forward to work commencing after I have decorated and cleaned it out." Hashtronaut commented. Asked about the Vault he simply said "I will not be returning to the Vault as a tenant."

The working name of the new premises: "Bleak House", although this may change at any time (and probably will).

Interesting times ahead....

CERBERUS

Posted: 28.05.2008
There's a three headed monster in the basement!

No, not the Aardvark from the great comic series, but the name of collective that convened for the U.K. EM Lock in. The lock in produced some great music for such an informal set up. Steve (Create) was unable to attend, but Mick (Hashtronaut), Phil (Zeitlois) and Jez (Modulator ESP) managed to get a lot of stuff down over the weekend. There was a lot of gear to play with, and about 5 hours of material recorded. This has since fallen under the name of Cerberus.

There is a site with most of the session online here:
http://www.virb.com/cerberus

It is written about in more detail here: http://www.hashtronaut.net/hashtronaut/diary_2008/04.25.08.html

All of the material was recorded on 2-track, and some of it was also recorded onto 12 track. If it merits it, there may be a release at some pint in the future.

PYLENE 50

Posted: 28.05.2008
Commissioned by Sleer?

Pylene 50 is a new electronic side project from Hashtronaut and EM buddy Zeitlos. They have an album for FREE download. It features one epic composition 'Darksong Rising'.

http://www.virb.com/pylene50

Pylene 50 will reconvene in the near future to begin work on another project. At the moment there are no concrete plans for when and where, but as soon as there is, we will let you know. It is most likely that it will be after the recording of Hashtronaut's IFBN project is completed.

NEW HASHTRONAUT RELEASE! 'EVENT ONE' AVAILABLE ONLINE AS A FREE DOWNLOAD!

Posted: 22.05.2007
Hashtronaut releases surprise new 'interim' recording.

Hashtronaut has surprised everybody with a sneaky new download only FREE release. This is the first piece that has come from the new studio that has been released.

"The Event One disc is a free 'mini-album' celebrating the first complete piece of music to be finished in the new studio after almost a years enforced absence from music. It is called 'Event One' for this reason. This piece kind of overtook 'Cloud Maps', it was much to heavy for that. So rather than start a new project and cause further delays in getting anything new out to the public, the Event One piece has replaced 'Cloud Maps', and this is now available on www.archive.org," says Hashtronaut. 'I am very excited to entering what I am coming to regard as 'phase 2' in my musical life. Keep an ear out for 'Cloud Maps' though - its bound to turn up at some point'.

"Event One lays the demons and spectres of 2006 to rest once and for all.
I hope you enjoy it - please feel free to comment via the contact page on the main web site, or at the 'Event One' page on archive.org".

This is the link for the FREE Event One:
http://www.archive.org/details/Event_One

Everybody here at Hashtronaut.net is rather excited at this release, and it has already racked up 169 downloads in its first 72 hours online.
